Saturday Afternoon Wedding at the Lace House

July 31, 2019

On July 27th, Shadi and Thomas were married during a beautiful afternoon ceremony at the Lace House in Columbia, SC. Surprisingly for a July wedding, the weather was perfect! The bride and groom looked amazing and were joined by loved ones that had traveled quite far to be with them for their special day.

When the couple first reached out to us about serving at their wedding, we decided on a bar menu with beer, wine, several spirits, and two signature drinks. They explained that they had lost two close family members recently, and they wanted to honor them by naming their signature drinks after those important people. Shadi’s drink was “The Betty,” a raspberry mojito with rum, fresh mint, lime, and house-made raspberry simple syrup. Thomas opted for a classic Jack Daniels and Coke and named it “The Martin.”

Congrats to the Tyson’s!

Edible Flowers on Cocktails

July 17, 2019

We love helping our clients create signature cocktails for their wedding. It allows us to be creative while also providing a unique experience for their big day. Some signature cocktails need a garnish as it is an integral part of the drink. For example, a mojito needs to be garnished with a little extra mint and lime, but a garnish isn’t necessary for every drink. However, garnishes can add to the drink’s presentation and are a fun way to take a standard drink and kick it up a bit.

One of our favorite ways to garnish a drink is with an edible flower. Edible flowers are so pretty and make even the most basic drink stand out from the rest. Some flowers have a distinct taste or smell, and do not work well with every drink, but some are nearly odorless and simply add to the presentation of the drink.
